Alexander Rae Baldwin (Alec Baldwin) III was born on April 3, 1958, in Amityville, New York, and raised in Massapequa, Long Island. He is the eldest of six children in the Baldwin family, which includes actors Daniel, William, and Stephen Baldwin.
Baldwin attended George Washington University before transferring to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University (NYU), where he studied drama. He later trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and graduated from NYU in 1994.
