Joanne Gignilliat Trimmier Woodward was born on February 27, 1930, in Thomasville, Georgia, USA. Her love for acting developed early, inspired by her mother’s interest in movies and attending the premieres of Gone with the Wind (1939) as a child. She later studied drama at Louisiana State University before moving to New York to train at the Actors Studio.
