Naya Marie Rivera was born on January 12, 1987, in Valencia, California, USA. She was of Puerto Rican, African American, and German descent. Her mother, Yolanda, was a former model, and her father, George Rivera, worked in various fields.
Naya began her career as a child actress and model, appearing in commercials by the time she was four years old.

On July 8, 2020, Naya went missing while boating with her 4-year-old son, Josey, at Lake Piru, California. Josey was found alone in the boat, and Naya’s body was discovered on July 13, 2020. Authorities determined she drowned while saving her son.
